Fall 2019 in Review
It has been a busy end to 2019 at Paul Messier Conservation Studio. Here are some highlights from the past few months.
Meet our intern, Lora (Ya-Yun Hsiao)!
Since October, we have had the pleasure of hosting our intern, Lora. Lora is in her final year of the masters program in the division of Paper Relics and Asian Painting, Graduate Institute of Conservation of Cultural Relics and Museology, Tainan National University of the Arts, Taiwan. During her time here in the studio, she has been learning how to identify, examine, and treat 19th century photographic processes. Outside of the studio, Lora has been actively exploring the Boston area and participating in cultural activities. Last month she helped install a gallery exhibition of Taiwanese artists at Harvard University, titled Reveal. More about the exhibition can be read here.
Paris Photo 2019
Conservator Diane Tafilowski attended the 23rd Edition of Paris Photo this past November.

NEMA Conference 2019
Lauren McMahon, registrar, attended the 101st Annual New England Museum Association (NEMA) Conference held in Burlington, Vermont in early November. The NEMA conference hosts the largest regional gathering of museum professionals in the U.S., with 800 people in attendance this year. While at NEMA, Lauren sat in on a variety of sessions regarding collection management, climate change, and cultural heritage emergency networks.
