Completion of the State Hermitage and Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Joint Project

In December 2015, Paul Messier and Karina Beeman visited The State Hermitage Museum for the completion of the collaborative project, The Hermitage Photograph Conservation Initiative.

The Hermitage Photograph Conservation Initiative was launched in the spring of 2010 to establish a photograph conservation department at the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The initiative was funded by a four-year grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and administered by the Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation.

We wanted to share a few of the many images taken over the 5 years of the project. We are very grateful to have been part of a great team of Hermitage, national and global colleagues, as well as the FAIC and Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
